More Than Just Another Weight Loss Story…
Disclaimer: I am not a health professional nor do I give out any medical advice. This is merely my experience, my story.
Heyy so let’s get one thing straight…this isn’t your typical weight loss narrative filled with unrealistic expectations and miraculous overnight transformations. This is a raw, unfiltered account of a 38-year-old London woman’s journey to reclaim her health, navigate complex family dynamics and find hope when everything seemed stacked against her.
I’m Shaz and this is the story of how Mounjaro became my unexpected ally in a decade long battle with weight, diabetes, and personal challenges that would have broken many.
The Body’s History…
To understand my journey, you need to know my story. I’m a product of two worlds. Bengali and English heritage.
Raised in the vibrant, multicultural landscape of London.
I’m married, a mother of four, and have experienced the most dramatic metabolic shifts imaginable.
My first two pregnancies in my early twenties were relatively straightforward.
My body bounced back with a resilience that I took completely for granted. I was fit, active, and seemingly invincible. Little did I know how dramatically things would change.

Battling With My Health…
My last two pregnancies in my early thirties brought unexpected challenges.
Gestational diabetes didn’t just visit…it moved in and made itself comfortable. Twice! Each pregnancy became a complex negotiation with my own body, a delicate dance of managing blood sugar, nutrition, and unexpected weight gain.
2022 was the year everything seemed to unravel.
I lost my father to illness. A deeply personal tragedy that shook our entire family’s foundation. Immediate family issues emerged, creating emotional turbulence that felt insurmountable.
Financial stress became our constant companion, with every penny carefully counted and our future feeling increasingly uncertain.
The cumulative stress took a tremendous toll on my health. My body, already struggling with the aftermath of multiple pregnancies and gestational diabetes began to signal distress in increasingly loud ways.
The Wakeup Call…
When I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, it wasn’t just a medical label. It was a profound moment of reckoning. Heart disease risks loomed like a dark cloud and suddenly my future looked frighteningly fragile.
My husband watched me feeling helpless as I navigated this complex landscape of declining health. Depression crept in…not just for me…but for him too. Watching a loved one struggle with health challenges is its own unique form of emotional exhaustion.
Enter Mounjaro…A Glimmer Of Hope

Mounjaro wasn’t just another medication. It represented possibility…A potential pathway out of the health challenges that had defined my recent years.
The Procurement Process
Let me be transparent about how I accessed this medication. I used a reputable online pharmacy that required a comprehensive consultation. This wasn’t a simple online transaction.
They demanded:
- Detailed health records from my GP
- Comprehensive BMI assessment
- Photographic documentation
- Thorough medical history review
The cost was approximately £140 – an investment in my health that felt both scary and exciting.
The First Month: Unexpected Transformations
I started at the lowest dose of 2.5 mg at the end of October 2024. The results? Nothing short of REMARKABLE!
In just one month, I lost 5 kilograms. And here’s the kicker…I didn’t radically change my lifestyle. No intense gym sessions, no impossible diet plans. Just my usual routine of school runs, chasing kids, and maintaining a generally active lifestyle.
The most profound change was in my relationship with food. My appetite didn’t just decrease; it practically disappeared. I went from being someone who constantly thought about meals to someone who barely remembered to eat.
It wasn’t about willpower or restrictive dieting. Mounjaro worked at a hormonal level, essentially reprogramming my body’s hunger signals. It was insane!
Side Effects…The Real Talk (a bit TMI)
Let’s be honest about side effects. For me, it was minimal at first. A slight bout of constipation was the only notable issue and compared to the health challenges I’d been facing, this felt like a minor inconvenience.
As I gradually increased the dose, I have had the runs, stomach cramps, headaches but the worst of it was the sulphur burps. Those were really bad for me. I found it was just so intense and did cause sleepless nights. It only lasted a couple days after the weekly injection so wasn’t too bad the rest of the week. However, on the flip side, after the jab, I found my appetite very suppressed and the weight was just falling off especially within the first few days.

Injection Insights
I initially used my stomach as the injection site. I did do a range of different injections sites such as my arm and thigh but found it didn’t make much of a difference. I stuck to my stomach as it was still numb from my c-section. haha.
Emotional and Mental Transformation
Weight loss isn’t just about numbers on a scale. It’s about reclaiming narrative, about proving to yourself that change is possible.
For me, Mounjaro represented more than a medication. It was a symbol of hope of refusing to be defined by past health challenges…taking control when everything seemed out of control.
Important Disclaimers
I cannot stress enough: Mounjaro is NOT a magic solution. It’s a tool, most effective when combined with:
- Balanced nutrition
- Regular physical activity
- Medical supervision
- Realistic expectations
Always consult healthcare professionals before starting any new medication.
Final Thoughts: Health is Wealth

I was on the medication for about 7-8 months. I lost a total of 20 kg so from 80 to 60. I am off mounjaro but have taken a cheeky small dose or two if I see the weight was going up. I’ve completely stopped now. I check my weight daily and use the app my fitness pal to input all of my food for the day. It actually is a very good free app to keep track of weight, food and calories. It also tracks your steps if you have an Iwatch like I do. Highly recommend if you want to track all of these.
I do not want ill health and do not want to go back to where I came from. I have reversed my diabetes, am able to workout better and easier and cannot thank mounjaro enough.
A few pointers I’d like to express is taking multi vitamins is CRUCIAL. Increase your daily water intake and sleep as well as you can. It will benefit you greatly and help with the weight loss. Also, you will lose muscle so make sure you do some weight resistance training and keep up those steps. It is a marathon not a sprint.
This journey has reinforced one fundamental truth…Our health is our most precious asset. It’s not about achieving some unrealistic body standard. It’s about feeling strong, capable and in control.
To anyone reading this and feeling overwhelmed by their health challenges: You are not alone. Your journey matters. Your story is valid.
Here’s to hope, healing, and moving forward – one step, one injection, one day at a time.
Stay strong, stay hopeful
Love Shaz xxx
